How to Use CBD Oil for Dogs

In a perfect world, your dog should hold the oil under its tongue for at least 30 seconds before swallowing. This is the most efficient form of administration for CBD oils because the CBD can pass into the bloodstream through sublingual membranes in the dog’s mouth. 

Of course, this isn’t something you’re going to be able to convince your dog to do. Instead, it’s best to infuse a dose of CBD oil into your dog’s food and stir it around. Most dogs don’t even think twice about this and love the bacon flavor these oils add to their food. 

For picky dogs, you may need to use the old-fashioned vet method instead. To administer CBD, drop the desired dose directly into their mouth and hold their snout closed for a few seconds. This forces your dog to swallow the oil and prevents them from spitting it out. It won’t hurt your pet, but they may find it annoying. Dogs are simple creatures — follow up with a treat for immediate redemption. 

Will CBD Oil Make My Dog High?

No, CBD is non-intoxicating — it doesn’t bind to any of the cannabinoid receptors in the brain, so it can’t get your dog high or “stoned.”

This oil is made from full-spectrum hemp extract. This means there are trace amounts of THC in the formula — but the dose is nowhere near enough to produce any psychoactive effects. These oils are guaranteed to be completely non-psychoactive. 

How Much CBD Oil Should I Give My Dog?

The amount of CBD oil for your dog depends on its size, age, and the potency of the oil you purchase. 

Every dog is different, so the best way to find the optimal dose is to start low and increase the dose gradually day by day until you see improvement in your dog’s symptoms. 

Here are some general recommendations of the approximate dose ranges you can expect depending on your dog’s weight:
