Solventless Extraction
The conventional method of extracting CBD from hemp involves solvents like hexane, heptane, butane, or benzene. While these solvents are, they’re toxic. The solvent is removed after extraction, but it’s impossible to remove it completely.
We avoid the use of solvents completely by using a process called supercritical CO2 instead. This method requires experienced lab technicians and high-tech (expensive) equipment. The machinery forces the CO2 gas under high pressure and low temperature. This causes the carbon dioxide to form a state that’s neither liquid nor gas — but shares qualities of both. This is referred to as a supercritical state.
Supercritical CO2 acts like a solvent to strip the active ingredients from the hemp. Once the pressure is released, it instantly converts back into a gas and evaporates from the extract — leaving behind pure, solventless full-spectrum extract.
